Farmhouse ‘Pinspiration’

Good day!

We’re back today with some Pinspiration! We’re taking some of our favorite storage baskets and buckets, and exploring how the Pinterest crowd uses them in their own country home decor.

Let’s do it!

Wood planter basket set

These planter boxes love more than just plants! Candles, flower vases, Ball jars, and even wine bottles are just a few of the items Pinterest users have placed in them.

Olive bucket set – This Pinterest user is using their olive bucket as a toilet paper storage container. We also love them as garden planters for lavender or willow branches, and decorative gourds for holiday harvest fun. Throw in some tiny LED lights!

Mason Jars in Chicken Wire Basket

We see a lot of these in the kitchen holding various utensils, but they’re also great for holding herbs and flowers!

Small Pocket Basket

The most common uses we’ve seen for this style of basket is in a den, home office or kitchen for books, magazines, and mail. We also saw a great post where a similar metal wall basket was used to store bathroom towels.

Iron Open Weave Basket

We’re seeing these baskets used to store produce, eggs and garlic in the kitchen! There’s even a great tutorial on Pinterest for attaching them to a wooden base for a multi-use organizer.

Aqua Tin Letter Box

A darling use for the tin letter box: fill with flowers and hang it on your front door!

What farmhouse storage baskets and buckets do you have at home, and what do you keep inside of them?

Burlap Natural – customer photos!

Hello there!

Just popping in to share a couple of photos tweeted by a customer this week (used with her permission).

These are the Burlap Natural curtains tiers. They are priced and sold by the pair, with a total width of 72 inches. They contain a half-inch header with a three-inch rod pocket. They are unlined, which allows some natural light to peek through!

After providing some help with her order, she received her shipment and shared the above two shots.

Thanks again to our customer for her kind words. We love hearing from the people we serve.

If you love this look, check out our collection of Burlap Window Treatments, and as always, we’re here to help if you need any guidance on sizes, styles, colors and coordinating items.

Have a great day!

5 crafts you can do with our metal barn stars

Today we’re taking a look at country DIY decor on Pinterest!

You can find more great country star decor on our Pinterest board, and searching “country star decor” on Pinterest opens up a treasure trove of country star inspiration.

Here are five DIY crafts you can make with our metal barn stars.

Rustic pallet with black star – This is an easy craft that probably even I could do. All you need is a pallet or any kind of reclaimed wood.  You can use wood glue or super glue to attach the star. (Just make sure the glue is one that dries clear and does not expand!) Check out some distressed painting techniques here!

Chicken wire star frame.  This is another super easy craft that you can easily personalize or modify based on the items you have on hand. (Or switch out accessories for different holidays!) Also check out our collection of florals!

Shutters with star and florals – picking up a theme here? Check out this lovely wall hanging adorned with star-flecked florals. We have a great selection of mixed berry and star garlands similar to what is shown in this piece, and there are so many ways to personalize and modify the shutters to coordinate with your decor.

Screen door and star porch decor. We love this one! If you don’t have a darling, vintage screen door handy, a pallet or some reclaimed wood would work just fine too. We offer our metal barn stars in sizes from 5″x5″ all the way up to 48″x48″ so if you’re looking to make a big statement, we’ve got you covered. Check out our mixed berry wreaths to complete the look.

Barn wood towel holder – This is a lovely craft because you can use virtually any barn wood or reclaimed wood that’s thick and sturdy enough to hold screws. Check out our collection of bathroom towel rings, kitchen towels or bathroom hand towels — it could go in either room!

Kitchen window treatments {virtual mail bag}

Good morning!

We’re sharing another inquiry from a customer today who asked for some tips on hanging curtains in a kitchen nook! We’ll include our response, and you can weigh in too!

She writes:

Hello.
I have a kitchen nook with a 71 inch wide window. Would you recommend valence or fishtail swag curtains? I’ve had valances, but not sure if swags are made for kitchens.
Also, do your country swags open up in the middle? Like could I put valances in the middle? Was wondering if they’d look good.

We have no reason to believe swags aren’t made for the kitchen! We think they’d look darling in a cozy breakfast nook, and they’re a great alternative to full-length drapes.

Getting to the second part of the question, the fishtail swags do not come apart in the middle, but the regular swags do, and they are sold by the pair.  They are made for inserting a valance in the middle.

How have you decorated the windows in your kitchen?

Help! My favorite pattern has been discontinued! {virtual mail bag}

Hey everyone!

Today we’re going to address a question a customer asked us recently in an email.

She writes:

I am trying to find these curtains. Do [you] sell these?

Victorian Heart

Oof! You were just about to pull the trigger on those darling curtain tiers and window valance (made by Victorian Heart!), and now they are nowhere to be found. This does happen occasionally as our manufacturers discontinue older product lines to make way for new collections. What do you do?

No worries — in this case, we have some recommendations!

The Sturbridge Wine collection of window treatments are a good match.
